What's a "Whiskey Hotel?"

Whiskey what??? — Yeah you heard that right—A Whisky Hotel! That was a totally new and original idea to me.

What precisely is a "Whisky Hotel"?

A Whisky Hotel is pretty much exactly what you tend to imagine it would be—an upscale overnight resort lodging for whiskey connoisseurs and aficionados.

Where do they come from?

Well... the world is full of those haunted souls impassioned about such "spirits"—those who are impelled by near religious conviction to make the occasional pilgrimage to these celestial sanctuaries of their favorite distilleries. The rise of the "whisky hotel" is nothing less than the natural outgrowth of this force of nature.

Where do you find them?

You are going to generally have to look in the UK, and especially in Scotland where it appears you will find both the best and the lot of them! According to Jonathan Wells in Gentlemen's Journal, these locations typically provide sublime accommodations and accouterments that are directly connected to their respective distilleries.

Gentleman's Journal offers a few exemplaric premier locations such as

The Craigellachie Hotel of Speyside that is the oldest of the breed being founded in 1703!

There is also the Ardsheil Hotel Resaurant & Whiskey Bar.

What Should I expect?

I'm going to pour it pretty "straight" for you... You can expect the finest accommodations and serene settings. From my short survey, they shape up to offer an ideal atmosphere to spend a weekend alone with your woman. Lastly, we of course cannot fail to mention that you should expect the finest whisky bars you will find!

I recommend you check out the Gentleman's Journal article here to learn more about three exceptional specimens of this rare breed of hotel.

Drink responsibly men!
